Terms & Conditions

The Secret Story Draw, (the "Competition") is organised by [THE SECRET STORY DRAW LIMITED], a not for profit company registered in England and Wales with company number [12985720] and registered address [8th Floor New England House, New England street. Brighton,UK. BN1 4GH] ("us", "we")
These terms apply when you enter the Competition.

1. ENTERING THE COMPETITION

1.1 To enter the Competition, you must select a story displayed on the [www.thesecretstorydraw.org] and submit an illustration or animation to complement it, via the website (the "Entry").
1.2 Entries will be accepted between [18th July 2022] and [31st January 2023] (the "Competition Period"). Entries received after the Competition Period are invalid.

2. WINNER SELECTION AND WINNER NOTIFICATION

2.1 After the end of the Competition Period, at least [22] entries will be shortlisted and at least 8 winners will be selected(the "Winners") from amongst valid Entries, based on the views of a panel of judges.
2.2 The Winners and those entrants on the shortlist will each be notified by email.

3. PRIZE DETAILS

3.1 The Winner's Entry, along with the story it is based on, may be developed into a short animated film (the "Film").
3.2 Those entrants shortlisted will be provided with one of a range of opportunities, including but not limited to a place on the secret story draw sessions ( a series of industry workshops aimed at developing your skills and careers) and an internship with a company within the animation or games industry.
3.3 Prizes are subject to availability and are not transferable or negotiable. There is nocash alternative for prizes.

4. CLAIMING A PRIZE

4.1 If you are a Winner, you will have 30 days from the date you are notified of having won (in accordance with the Winner notification process in these T&Cs) (the "Prize Acceptance Period") within which to accept the prize by confirming acceptance of the prize in response to our email to you. Winners who do not accept prizing within this period invalidate their right and claim to such prizing.
4.2 We will make all reasonable efforts to contact the Winner. If a Winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within the PrizeAcceptance Period, we reserve the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant.

5. ELIGIBILITY

5.1 The competition is only open to all residents in the [United Kingdom] aged 18 years or over, who identify as Black, Asian or ethnic minority.
5.2 We will not accept Entries that are not your own original work.
5.3 There is a limit of one Entry per category animation or illustration per person]
5.4 Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.
5.5 Were serve all rights to disqualify you if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the Competition in our reasonable discretion.

6. PRIZE WINNERS AND WINNER SELECTION

The decision and results concerning prize winners are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into after selection is made in accordance with these terms.

7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

7.1 Insofar as is permitted by law, we will not in any circumstances be responsible or accept any liability for any loss or damage occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by our negligence.
7.2 We reserve the right to change, suspend or cancel theCompetition without specifying the reasons for our decision and without incurring liability as a result.

8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

8.1 You warrant that all materials and assets you submit in your Entry are your original works, are not defamatory and do not infringe third party rights (including without limitation intellectual property rights or privacy rights).
8.2 We do not claim any rights of ownership in your Entry.
8.3 You agree that we may, but are not required to, display your Entry on our website, and any other media and social media, in connection with the Competition and any reasonable publicity of the Competition. You agree to grant us a royalty-free, exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of your intellectual property rights in the Entry (if any are applicable) to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store and re-format the Entry for such purposes.
8.4 You hereby waive all moral rights in the Entry.
8.5 If you are the Winner, you agree to grant us a licence to adapt your Entry into a short film, on terms to be agreed reasonably and in good faith.

9. GENERAL

9.1 We reserve the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prizing or Competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
9.2 These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law.
